Top 5 Favourite Novellas

I love those novellas that tell a different story within the main story. Normally they're about the best friend of the main character in the series, but sometimes they're a few exceptions. Here are my favourite 5 novellas of all time:

  • Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover

The love story between Daniel and Six is as powerful as Sky and Dean's. They're some pretty intense moments  in here, but it made what they were feeling for each other much more stronger and meaningfull. This novella was quite a journey.

  • In Time by Alexandra Bracken

I actually cried when I finished reading this. I felt so much more reading this short story than with the book of this series. The Darkest Minds was a pretty amazing book, so of course I decided to pick this one. I was not aware of how much of a rollercoaster of emotions this was going to be. I completely forgot this was a novella until the final pages. I was so into the story. It made me smile, and laugh, and want to hug my pillow and cry very very hard.

  • Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi

Tahereh Mafi made me root for the "bay" guy, you know why? Cause he isn't a really bad guy at all! We had a brave, sweet, spectacular love interest, but after this? He's so boring! Warner became SO interesting. He feels so deeply and now I completely believe Juliette and him are meant to be. One should see all the points of view before making a decision people. This novella changed my view on Shatter me and made me wish for a different ending!

  • Cloud Walking by A. Meredith Walters

Find you in the dark was such a hard book, and this novella was refreshing. I was so happy about their cloud walking love, and it was good seeing how it was completely different from Maggie and Clay's devouring, intense love. Daniel and Rachel's love was easy as breathing, when Maggie and Clay's was a struggle every single day. I love the contrast between the book and this novella.

  • Crossing The Line by Katie McGarry

I really loved Lila and Lincoln together: their story was so interesting and different! The letters were beautiful, and I think this could easily have been a book. I mean, write more about their letters, how they've met, more about his background story, and how they ended together in Florida and you've got a book! Still, cute story, and lovely romance, that everybody should read. It can be read independently from the other books as well.

So yeah, those were my favourite novellas. I completely recommend them, cause I ended up loving these wonderful stories. I enjoy as well all of The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare (& Sarah Rees Brennan, or Maureen Johnson): not so much the first two, but they keep getting better and better!

Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover

(It's very hard to find novellas as good as books, and I'm pleased to say that this is one of the exceptions.)

6 Stars to Colleen Hoover's new novella! This was PERFECTION. I just, ugh... so many feels right now. It's amazing how much I love this woman's stories.

This novella is from Holder's best friend Daniel's POV, and he's a sweetheart. He's funny as hell, but also very very sweet. Six and him are so right for each other, they're a great couple. The prologue was one of the best prologues I've ever read: there's so much emotion on it. Finding your exception is always a big deal, and Colleen portraited it beautifully in here.

We get to see Sky and Holder and Breckin again! I love Holden and Daniel's relationship: they're such good friends, always there for each other.
“For real,” I say. “You’re my best friend and I love you. I’m not ashamed to admit that I love a guy. I love you, Holder. Daniel Wesley loves Dean Holder. Always and forever.”
“Daniel, go make out with your girlfriend,” he says, waving me off.
I shake my head. “Not until you tell me you love me, too.”
His head falls back against Sky’s headboard. “I fucking love you, now GO AWAY!”
I grin. “I love you more.”
I laughed so hard during this scene.

There was a mayor twist that I didn't see coming AT ALL. Usually, either my best friend or me, guess the upcoming of the story and is frustrating at times, but this? I had no idea what was happening! It was so well done, I had to re read some parts to catch the meaning in some of the things Six said.
I want to re read and re read this story again. It is THAT good.

Anyone who hasn't read Colleen Hoover's books: GO-BUY-THEM-NOW. They're life changing stories.

The Boy Who Sneaks in my Bedroom Window by Kirsty Moseley

This book is no picnic. We get an epic romance, but there are a lot of factors that made it really difficult for them to be together. This book deals with very hard issues, like physical and mental domestic abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Jake and Amber had an abusive father since they were little kids. And one night, after receiving too many blows, Amber can’t stop crying, and their next door neighbor and Jake’s best friend, Liam, creeps into her bedroom window, and hugs her until she falls asleep in his arms.
After 8 years, they can’t fall asleep if it’s not in each other’s arms. Even though, they kicked their father out of the house five years ago, after he attempted rapping Amber, she still can’t sleep if it’s not in Liam’s arms or the nightmares will come back.
Jake doesn’t know that Amber and Liam sleep together every night, or he might freak out. The last thing he wants to see is her little sister with his best friend, so Liam had to put on a charade with Amber, pretending to be this mean manwhore during the day, and being his sweet self during their nights together.
“Night Liam was considerate, loving and thoughtful. Day Liam was a flirt, slut and a jerk. However, both night and day Liam made me feel safe and protected.”
He really is completely in love with her, since the first time he saw her. He even call her ‘Angel’ (something super cliché, but still sweet) and waits patiently for her to realize how much he loves her. Until finally happens!
They start dating, and fell head over heels for each other. They faced a lot of obstacles, (and I mean a lot of very traumatizing circumstances), always together.
They’re a great couple. They love each other unconditionally, and they fight together against all odds.
““But I don't want to ruin your future.”
“You are my future, Angel.””

This was a very emotional book, with lots of drama, and amazing main characters, that ends up with a very unconventional family, a group full of love and support towards each other. I wasn’t a fan of the writing style, filling it missing further review at times, but the story captivated me completely.
